Honestly, this is a great place. Obviously, if you're coming here, you know all the reasons why. Plus, since it's members only (or their guests) this review probably won't mean much.
There's a great maze outside and a huge lawn that runs out to an awesome walking trail that follows the river. Down by the river there's an outdoor massage room that is just wonderful.
Pretty much the only reason to be in Wisconsin.
We had the pleasure of having an amazing dinner cooked by Chef Cale of the club. Not only did he meticulously prepared an amazing, multi-course meal for us, but he came out and chatted with us before each plate to talk about each of the plate. Thanks Chef Cale for making the most heavenly kobe beef I've ever had in my life. I can never eat any other meat the same way again in my life.
This place is absolutely, BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL. The mansion is huge but charmingly quaint. The spa is nice, and the indoor pool has a trap door that let you slip out to the outdoor pool - the outdoor pool that is constantly heated at 80 degrees!
We drove a few hours north of Chicago and found ourselves at Riverbend. A friend had invited us to his weekend getaway in celebration of his birthday, and we did not hesitate in joining. Riverbend is a private club in Kohler, and if you get a chance to go visit the former mayor's house, do so. Unfortunately, you are only allowed here if you are a member, or a guest of a member. But one visit here, and you'll know why it's kept so private.
